This is the start of the goat trail up mount Schofield.  First is the ditch which one has to drive through, then the off camber steep and narrow hill. Past this point the road gets  narrow  enough that a Jeep would  not make it, only mini trucks, 

side by sides and quads etc.

The washout.  This was quite a deep one, I had not yet installed the rear locker so it took a bit of time to get up the other side.

Most of the old deactivated logging roads on Vancouver island have large ditches cut across them in several miles.  The draconian forest management company called Mosiac, cuts off almost all access into the back country. Most of the island has been granted logging rights to this company and under BC laws that means its private property even though it is "Crown Land" or in other words land which people can access freely.
